GLOBAL CRISIS, BUSINESS JIHAD AND JCORP’S TURNAROUND

Posted On May 25, 2009

The Global crisis of 2008 was, and in its aftermath still is, a turning point in the world economic order. After all, the 2008 crisis is a crisis of capitalism itself. George Soros had seen the crisis as “…not caused by some external shock…” Indeed, to Soros, “… the crisis was generated by the system itself.” (See also my Blog’s posted article under the title: “Global Crisis – Business Jihad As An Alternative Business Way”). Thus it is a crisis with serious long term repercussions affecting the way lives are lived all over the world.

If it is a turning point, then the Muslim ummah and the Muslim world will also have to evaluate its position in the new global scheme of things. Muslims have not been spared the worst of the crisis either, as their societies had been so deeply embedded into the capitalist system over decades and centuries past, largely painfully through the traumatic experience of being subjugated and colonised by the West. On the other hand, the 2008 global crisis also offers an extremely rare opportunity for Muslims to redefine and remobilise themselves and position Islam for a more meaningful global role in all aspects of life, including in the business and economic arena.

GLOBAL ECONOMIC CRISIS - BUSINESS JIHAD AS AN ALTERNATIVE BUSINESS WAY

Posted On May 4, 2009

(This article was published in The Edge Malaysia on May 4, 2009, under the title: “JCORP’S BUSINESS JIHAD”)

The fallout from the 2008 American financial and economic crisis has been traumatic and taken a severe global toll when even corporate giants with seemingly unassailable corporate presence, reputation, and global brand names have since been humbled.

In a business-driven world economic system, corporate crisis triggered by business failure in the world’s largest economy such as America, have extremely far-reaching consequences and implications on every one else. More so in today’s highly interconnected, and intricately networked global system. Millions of people across all continents have seen their wealth wiped out as stock markets melted and became poorer as asset values diminished.
